Hephaestion Plaque - Detail from the Alexander the Great Sarcophagus Large Plaque

This plaque is a section-detail from the one of the four panels of the Alexander Sarcophagus, the
battle scene showing Macedonians and Persians fighting each other. Alexander's closest
Companion Hephaestion is depicted on a horse in the middle of the plate. This ancient sculpture
masterpiece is for the first time offered to the modern collector of ancient art.
