Medusa plaque
Medusa was one of the three
Gorgons and she alone had
serpents in her hair, due to
Athena cursing her. Medusa
was the only one of the three
who was mortal; hence
Perseus was able to kill her
by cutting off her head while
looking at her in the reflection
in a mirrored shield he got
from the Graeae.
