Osiris plaque
This large ancient Egyptian plaque depicts the god Osiris. Osiris is the god of the earth and vegetation, symbolized in his death the yearly drought and in his miraculous rebirth the periodic flooding of the Nile and the growth of grain. Osiris is the Egyptian god of Death and the underworld. Osiris was originally the god of the underworld and the dead in the Ennead version of Egyptian mythology, in which he was one of the four children of the earth (Geb) and the sky (Nuit), and was the husband of Isis, who represented life.
