Osiris large plaque
This large ancient Egyptian plaque depicts the god
Osiris. Osiris is the god of the earth and vegetation,
symbolized in his death the yearly drought and in his
miraculous rebirth the periodic flooding of the Nile and
the growth of grain. Osiris is the Egyptian god of
Death and the underworld. Osiris was originally the
god of the underworld and the dead in the Ennead
version of Egyptian mythology, in which he was one of
the four children of the earth (Geb) and the sky (Nuit),
and was the husband of Isis, who represented life.
