Welcome to the Ancient Sculpture Gallery’s ancient coin collection, where you will find some of the most beautiful ancient coins ever struck. Most of them belong to the Hellenistic Period (330 – 30 B.C.) which was defined by the passage of the Macedonian armies of Alexander the Great, ending with the death of Cleopatra VII the last Macedonian ruler of Ptolemaic Egypt. This 300-year period was dominated by several royal dynasties of which the most famous were the Antigonids in Macedonia, the Seleucids in Asia, and the Ptolemies in Egypt, though we also pay attention to other famous kings which ruled the remaining areas of the former Alexander’s empire, namely Bactria, Pergamon and Thrace. These coins are special because they are by themselves spectacular masterpieces. Each one of them bears the bust of the ruling king or queen (or both), sculpted in high relief with stunning detail. Along the many gold, silver, and bronze coins of Alexander the Great, the Seleucids, the Ptolemies, and other Macedonian kings, you will also find some Parthian, Carian, Lycian, and Roman coins. All are guarantied genuine, giving you a unique opportunity to own a rare authentic sculptural artifact, created more then 2,000 years old by master craftsmen.
