Description

Inner circumference approx. 7 in. Available in silver plate The design of our bracelet is adapted from a single-strand necklace (Egyptian, late Dynasty 17-early Dynasty 18, ca. 1560-1450 B.C.) of gold disk beads found in a tomb in western Thebes, across the Nile from the modern-day city of Luxor. Excavated by the Museum in 1916, the tomb dates to a transitional period in Egyptian history when the ruling family of Thebes (Dynasty 17) was reuniting the country after a period of disunity. Several generations later, kings descended from the same family would present multi-stranded necklaces of large disk beads, called shebiu-necklaces, to their most valued officials.
