Sculptor Jane Poupelet (French, 1878-1932) reportedly began her career modeling farm animals at age three, and later studied under Lucien Schnegge. Her work was admired for its harmony of form. Our reproduction is directly based from her original bronze statue (ca. 1909), which is in the MET Museum’s collection, and is also made of 100 true lost-wax bronze.
