Description

This is the old Roman Emperor in the movie Gladiator! This sculpture identical reproduction of the original ancient masterpiece, now housed by the prominent museum. Marble Bust of Marcus Aurelius (r. 161-180 AD) Museum: Ephesus Museum, Turkey Date: ca. 100 AD Period: Roman Imperial This is a head of the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus (often referred to as “the wise”) (April 26, 121[2] – March 17, 180) was Roman Emperor from 161 to his death in 180. He was the last of the “Five Good Emperors”, and is also considered one of the most important Stoic philosophers. His tenure was marked by wars in Asia against a revitalized Parthian Empire, and with Germanic tribes along the Limes Germanicus into Gaul and across the Danube. A revolt in the East, led by Avidius Cassius, failed. Marcus Aurelius’ work Meditations, written in Greek while on campaign between 170 and 180, is still revered as a literary monument to a government of service and duty and has been praised for its “exquisite accent and its infinite tenderness.”

Made of hardened marble dust (cast marble). Our sculptures are EXACT REPRODUCTIONS IN CAST MARBLE IN THE SAME SIZE AND DIMENSIONS as the great museum original masterpieces now housed by several prominent world museums. All are casts faith, reproduced from molds created on the original classical works now in the museum. Every mold is made by a 1 on 1 direct contact with the original object and therefore it guarantees the highest possible authenticity of the reproduction (see some examples of our finished products). These annexed galleries of cast molds make our collection exclusive and unique in the world, as no permission will ever be granted by the competent authorities to subject historical masterpieces to this process of reproduction again. These are collector items that can not be found anywhere else in the world. We do not import products (as most sculpture shops do) made of inexpensive plaster that give cheep and kitsch look and feel to the product as soon it is touched and lifted like a feather. Our museum sculptures are NOT made of resin or plastic. They are made of cast marble, which is extremely heavy and strong, having a real ancient feel. An ancient patina finishing gives it an additional historical value (you can choose not to have patina applied and keep it all white if you like). The statue can be displayed both inside and out, it is weatherproofed.
