Description

Sacrophagus of the one of the greatest Egyptian pharaohs, Thutmose III. Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty (reigned ca. 1504 – 1450 BC) often regarded as the greatest of the rulers of ancient Egypt. Thutmose III emerged as the sole ruler of Egypt and as a great conqueror after the death of Hatshesput. He consolidated all of Syria except Phoenicia into his empire and enriched Egypt with wealth and power. According to the stele of Thutmose III, over 350 cities fell to the Egyptians under his rule. There is little doubt that his numerous campaigns were extremely successful. He has in fact been referred to as the “Napoleon of ancient Egypt” because of his military expansion.

Made of cast stone. Cast stone is a type of gypsum cement whose properties are much different from plaster of paris which is what most sculpture shops use. Unlike plaster, which is soft, light and weak, cast stone is hard, heavy and strong. Cast stone feels like, and is heavy like a real stone would be, which can be experienced as soon you try to lift it.

This item is also available in other color finishes - if you like other then the pictured finish, please chose from the pull down menu above. To see pictures of our cast stone finishes please visit our "Cast Stone Sculptures FAQ". There is no extra charge for any other finish you chose.
